This is a beautiful spiny trilobite. This is a killer Large Horned Kettneraspis from the Devonian of Morocco. This impressive specimen was painstakingly prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in the USA. This species of Leonaspis has a long, oval body and LONG spines. This inflated specimen is wonderfully articulated and exhibits fine detail - both free cheeks are present, and the small, fringe spines on the front borders of the cheeks are intact. The extremely long genal and pleural spines are easily seen, and the pygidial spines are clearly defined. The protruding eyes are also nicely displayed. But the defining feature of this trilobite is its LONG, thick occipital spine - this specimen has this spine intact, and it has been prepared in a free-standing manner! The colorful bug is beautifully showcased on the stiking block of sculpted limestone. This is a very impressive display example of this extremely sought-after type of Kettneraspis.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
