This is a very unusual fossil. It is a rare Modocia brevispina and Ctenocystoid plate from the House Range of Utah. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 1996 and just recently prepared. This bug differs from the more common Elrathia in that the head is not as wide and the pleurons are more pointed. The bug is very inflated and displays well on the plate. The distinct Ctenocystoid (lower left) is also very nice. The two fossils are very well showcased on the large matrix plate. This is a rare arthropod/echinoderm association plate from the Middle Cambrian.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
