This is a beautiful plate of SIX Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry (WRQ) near Trenton Falls, New York. This type is one of the original trilobites that Charles Walcott and James Hall made famous a century ago! All six specimens on the plate are complete and outstretched, which is quite unusual. The trilobites have great detail preserved, showcasing the pustulated, thick shell exoskeletons beautifully. The bugs are very well articulated and very well displayed on the HUGE limestone plate - fully natural, no compositing! Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important a multiple plate like this is. This is a one-of-a-kind multiple example of classic Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobites from New York State.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
