Here is a nice trilobite from Canada. This is Isotelus gigas from the Ordovician. This type of Isotelus has a very triangular cephalon and pygidium and no genal spines. This species is much rarer than Isotelus mafritzi. This specimen is beautifully inflated and perfectly enrolled. The thick exoskeleton is very nicely preserved and exhibits fine detail. The protruding eyes are quite elevated above the sleek carapace. The trilobite has great natural color. It has been removed from the surrounding matrix so that it can be viewed from all angles. The fossil comes with a block of Cobourg limestone on which the bug can be placed. This is a wonderful example of trilobite enrollment on an unusual species of Isotelus.
