This is a very large Treveropyge prorotundifrons from the Devonian of Morocco. This is one of the most difficult trilobites to obtain from Morocco in good condition. This type has extremely large eyes that protrude way above the carapace and very thin "skin" on the exoskeleton. This specimen exhibits wonderful preservation and has been meticulously prepared to "save" the fine detail of the fossil arthropod. This bug has been prepared in high relief so that it seems to be crawling over the pinnacle of the matrix block. This trilobite is complete and extremely inflated. It is wonderfully articulated and exhibits fine detail. The individual lenses of the HUGE compound eyes are easily seen. (Although the picture does not show the pygidium, it is just as nice as the rest of the trilobite). The natural brownish-black color of the fossil contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. This is an exciting specimen of a large Treveropyge from Morocco.
