This is a beautiful trilobite plate. It is a pair of Illaenus tauricornis from Russia. This type of Illaenus differs from the more common types of Illaenus in that they have long genal spines. Both trilobites have these genal spines intact. In fact, all four hook-shaped genal spines have been prepared free-standing! The bugs have great natural caramel coloring, and they contrast well with the lighter, buff-colored matrix. There is also an excellent Echinosphaerites cystoid preserved on the plate. This is a well-prepared plate of rare trilobites that simply displays beautifully.
