This is a fabulous specimen of Drotops megalomanicus from the Devonian of Morocco. This specimen was cleaned under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Preparation Lab, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. This Phacopid trilobite is not only big - it is EXTREMELY inflated. This specimen has fantastic detail - the granulose texture of the thick shell exoskeleton is very well defined. The large, faceted compound eyes are pristine - we hesitate to say perfect, but they are! The coal-black trilobite contrasts beautifully with the natural grey matrix. Every trilobite collector should have one of these Drotops in their collection that is this nice. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough good ones to go around.
