Here is an exciting trilobite specimen from Australia. This is a large Xystridura saint-smithi from the Middle Cambrian. Complete trilobites of this genus are extremely difficult to find - usually they are disarticulated and missing both free cheeks. The free cheeks are present on this specimen. The right cheek is tightly attached while the left one is "flipped" over. The cephalon, thorax, and pygidium are beautifully articulated. The bug is nicely positioned on the irregular plate of matrix that is loaded with disarticulated pieces of trilobites. This is an excellent specimen of a very hard-to-obtain trilobite from Australia.
