Here is an extremely large specimen of Greenops widderensis that just happens to be exquisitely preserved. This bug is from the Devonian of Arkona, Ontario, Canada. This prone trilobite is nicely inflated and wonderfully articulated. It exhibits incredible detail. The thick exoskeleton of the trilobite is completely covered with fine pustules. Under magnification, the preservation is breath-takingly beautiful. The crescent-shaped, compound eyes are near perfect - the individual lenses are easily seen. The broad genal spines are complete to the very tips and prominently displayed. The pygidial spines are all intact and quite evident. The fossil has great color and contrast and is well presented on the natural plate of shale. This is a fabulous Greenops widderensis from Canada.
