Here is an extremely pretty trilobite. This is Ceraurus sp. from the Cobourg Formation of Ontario, Canada. Ceraurus from the Cobourg Formation are naturally dark in color - not like the cream-colored Ceraurus from the Bobcaygeon Formation. This specimen is very prone and nicely articulated. The 3-dimensional bug exhibits beautiful detail. The cephalon is covered with coarse pustules. The long genal spines and pygidial spines are wonderfully displayed. This arthropod has extremely thick, blackish exoskeleton and contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. It is well positioned on the somewhat rounded plate of matrix. This is a very aesthetic specimen of this "classic" trilobite.
