This is a nice specimen of Asaphiscus wheeleri from the Wheeler Formation of Utah. This bug is nicely articulated and preserves fine detail. The semi-glossy carapace of the bug is remarkably well preserved. The trilobite displays the free cheeks of the cephalon and the wide brim on the pygidium. There is also an Elrathia kingi and several other fragments of trilobites present. The black fossils contrast nicely with the gray matrix. They are well positioned on the natural plate of shale. This is a good specimen of two different trilobites on the same matrix plate from the Middle Cambrian.
