Here is an excellent U.S. trilobite. This is Reedops deckeri from the Haragan Formation of Oklahoma. The trilobite is extremely 3-dimensional and wonderfully articulated. This bug is very prone and exhibits great detail. The large eyes are near perfect - the individual lenses are intact and nicely defined. The finely granulose texture of the thick exoskeleton is easily seen. The caramel-brown fossil contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored matrix. It is well positioned on the somewhat squared block of limestone. The specimen has been prepared in high relief, so that the trilobite is raised high above the matrix. This is a very displayable example of Reedops deckeri from the Lower Devonian.
