Here is an excellent specimen of Calymene niagarensis from the Silurian of New York. This 3-dimensional bug is almost perfectly prone and wonderfully articulated. It has very thick exoskeleton and exhibits outstanding detail. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The dark brownish-black trilobite contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. It is well positioned on the rounded plate of shale. This is a very symmetrical and finely detailed specimen of Calymene niagarensis.
