This is a wonderful example of Isotelus mafritzi from the Ordovician of Canada. The trilobite is very prone and extremely well articulated. The specimen is somewhat inflated and exhibits great detail. The eyes are completely real and protrude high above the sleek carapace of the trilobite. The genal spines are of unequal length (naturally) and are complete to the very pointed tips. The bug has excellent, thick exoskeleton. The dark brownish-black color of the trilobite contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. The fossil is well centered on the somewhat squared block of limestone. This is a beautiful specimen of this "classic" trilobite.
