Here is a beautiful trilobite from British Columbia. This is a complete Wanneria sp. from the Lower Cambrian. This is not the more common Olenellus which is also found at this site. This trilobite is outstretched and wonderfully articulated. The small, crescent shaped eyes are quite evident and the genal spines are nicely displayed. Each and every sweeping pleuron tip is intact. This ancient arthropod even shows remnants of the alimentary canal running from the cephalon to the tip of the pygidium. This is a highly unusual preservational feature in the trilobite record. The pygidial spines is also intact, which is unusual. The fossil is wonderfully centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very collectable trilobite from the Lower Cambrian.
