This trilobite was recently acquired from the Valverde Collection, a well-known collection in Central America. This is a nice specimen of Metacanthina barrandei from the Devonian of Morocco. The large trilobite is nicely inflated and wonderfully articulated. The bug is slightly contraflexed and exhibits fine detail. The individual lenses of the compound eyes are easily seen. The finely granulose texture of the exoskeleton is quite evident. There is also an unidentified solitary coral (extremely 3-dimensional) sitting next to the trilobite. This is a very unusual occurrence. The fossils have great color and good contrast. They are well positioned on the rounded block of limestone. This is a unique specimen of a Metacanthina barrandei and a fossil coral from a fine fossil collection.
