Here is a fine specimen of Dalmanites limulurus from the Silurian of New York. The trilobite is almost perfectly prone and very nicely articulated. The bug exhibits fine detail. The large, crescent-shaped eyes protrude above the carapace of the trilobite. The long genal spines and the caudal spine are beautifully displayed. The ancient arthropod has great dark-brownish color and contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. The fossil is well centered on the plate of shale. This is a pretty specimen of Dalmanites limulurus from the Rochester Shale.
