Here is a very displayable specimen of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) kowalewskii from the Middle Ordovician of Russia. These stalk-eyed Asaphid trilobites have become one of the mainstays of every serious fossil collection. There are two complete examples of this trilobite on the piece. One of the trilobites is almost perfectly prone. The other trilobite has the pygidium tucked downward. Both bugs are extremely 3-dimensional and exhibit wonderful detail. The long-stalked eyes have been prepared in a free-standing manner and are beautifully displayed. The caramel-brown color of the fossils contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. The trilobites are well centered on the large, natural plate of limestone. This is a great specimen of these spectacular trilobites.
