As everyone knows, complete Mississippian age trilobites are very hard to obtain. This is a complete specimen of Griffithides bufo from Crawfordsville, Indiana, a site more well known for beautiful crinoids. Only a few of these trilobites are found each year. This trilobite is nicely articulated and exhibits fine detail. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The short genal spines are nicely displayed. The eyes of the bug are easily seen. The brown color of the ancient arthropod contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. It is well presented on the natural plate of siltstone. This is a very good specimen of a rare Carboniferous trilobite.
