This is a wonderful, large specimen of Cyphaspis carrolli from the Haragan Formation. The beautifully articulated trilobite exhibits great detail. The bulbous glabella is covered with fine pustules. The stalked eyes are prominently displayed. The thin genal spines are easily seen. This type of trilobite has a long thoracic spine. On this specimen, that spine has been prepared in a free-standing manner. The trilobite has thick, caramel-colored exoskeleton that contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. The fossil is well presented on the natural piece of limestone. This is a fantastic specimen that will never have to be up-graded.
