This is an exquisite trilobite. It is a Chasmops praecurrens from the Wolchow River area of Russia. This type is known for its large compound eyes and long, sweeping genal spines. This specimen showcases these features wonderfully. The trilobite itself is HUGE for this type - it is well over 2 inches long and very inflated. The thick shell exoskeleton has great color and detail. It contrasts nicely with the finely sculpted matrix. This is one of the few examples of this type we have had, and probably the best. It is a museum quality example that simply displays beautifully.
