This is a rare Russian trilobite. It is a Remopleurides nanus from the Ordovician layers near St. Petersburg. This type is known for its very large hypostoma (mouthplate) and long body spine. This specimen was prepared dorsally to expose the axial spine. This spine has been prepared so that it is free-standing on the body. The rest of the trilobite is very 3-D and has good detail. This is only the second specimen of this type we have seen. It is a primo example of this very rare Russian trilobite.
