This is simply a beautiful trilobite. It is a Spiny-Tailed Scutellid (Thysanopeltis?) from Morocco. This type is similar to the standard Thysanopeltis, but has alternating long and short spines on the tail! This specimen displays this feature prominently. The entire tail is exquisitely preserved, with the ribs of the tail being fully inflated. The head is also nicely inflated, and the TINY holochroal compound eyes are even preserved! The trilobite has great natural color, and is well centered on the sculpted limestone plate. This is an expertly prepared example of this very rare scutellid trilobite.
