This is a beautiful trilobite. This is Modocia typicalis from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. The trilobite is nicely articulated and exhibits very fine detail. The free cheeks are intact and tightly attached. The sweeping genal spines are quite evident. The pleurons terminate in spines that become progressively longer as they near the pygidium. The trilobite has fabulous reddish color. It contrasts extremely well with the pinkish matrix. The bug is presented on a large (6" X 8") natural plate of matrix. There is also an unidentified sponge present on the plate. This is a very pretty specimen of a very aesthetic trilobite.
