This is an unusual Oklahoma trilobite. It is a lab-prepared Lonchodomas mcgeheei from the Ordovician Bromide Formation. This type is famous for obvious reasons - its three long spines. This specimen has a long, needle-thin spine growing off the top of the head. It also has the two long genal spines intact, which is unusual. This trilobite has great butterscotch coloring on a large, cream-colored matrix plate. This is a large specimen - at 1.3", it is as large as we have seen. This bug was found by Steve Hess on September 4, 1997, and was the best find of the day by far. This is a great example of this very sought-after trilobite from Oklahoma.
