This is a nice outstretched specimen of Breviphillipsia sampsoni from the Mississippian of Missouri. Most trilobite collectors know that complete trilobites from the Mississippian are extremely scarce. This specimen is inflated and nicely articulated. The trilobite exhibits fine detail. The exoskeleton is covered with small pustules, especially on the glabella. The eyes of the trilobite are quite noticeable. The specimen has good brownish color and contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. It is well positioned on the squared plate of matrix. There is also a horn coral present on the slab. This is a fine example of Breviphillipsia from a site that is no longer producing specimens.
