This is a rare scutellid trilobite. It is a Platyscutellum sp. from Morocco. This type should not be confused with the more common Scabriscutellum. This type has a broader, more bulbous nose. This type is also grows larger than Scabriscutellum. This specimen is complete with both free cheeks intact. The body and large, fan tail have very good detail. And the compound (holochroal) eye facet pattern is still preserved! This is a great example of this rare Devonian scutellid.
