Here is a very pretty Russian trilobite. This is Illaenus sp. from the Middle Ordovician. This species of Illaenus has very rounded genal angles. This trilobite is complete and almost perfectly prone - which is very unusual. Most Illaenid trilobites have the cephalon in a "tucked" position. This bug is extremely 3-dimensional and nicely articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The widely-spaced, crescent-shaped eyes are easily seen. The trilobite has gorgeous, thick exoskelton that is butterscotch in color. It contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored, natural piece of matrix. This is a striking example of an outstretched Illaenus.
