This is a very clean, crisp specimen of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) punctatus from the Ordovician of Russia. This large specimen is wonderfully articulated. It is very inflated and almost perfectly prone. Note the large, stalked eyes - a defining feature of this species. The rich, caramel brown color of the trilobite contrasts well with the cream-colored matrix. It is nicely presented on a natural piece of limestone. This is a beautiful example of this classic stalk-eyed trilobite from Russia.
