This is a good specimen of the blind trilobite, Ampyxina bellatula, from the Ordovician of Missouri. At one time, these trilobites were found somewhat prolifically, but not anymore. This trilobite was found by Steve Hess in April of 1991. The trilobite is outstretched and exhibits very fine detail. The individual segments of the trilobite are well defined. The trilobite is well centered on the matrix plate. There are also some other trilobite pieces on the slab. This is a very nice specimen of a trilobite that is becoming increasingly difficult to find.
