This is an unusual trilobite. It is a Ditomopyge scitula from the Pennsylvanian of Ohio. Trilobites from the Pennsylvanian Period are rare. Although the free cheeks are missing, the specimen still has nice detail. The hypostoma, or mouthplate, of the trilobite is resting on the left side of the thorax. The trilobite has excellent exoskeleton. The fossil has great color and good contrast. It is well centered on the matrix plate. This is a good example of a Pennsylvanian trilobite.
