Here is an unusual trilobite. This is a very fine specimen of Lonchodomas mcgeheei from the Ordovician of Oklahoma. This type of trilobite has a semi-circular cephalon with a long anterior spine and extremely long, thin genal spines. This trilobite is nicely inflated and well articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached - the genal spines are beautifully displayed. The individual thoracic segments are clearly defined and the wide, triangular pygidium is intact. The fossil has good color and contrast. It is well centered on the irregular plate of limestone. This is a very displayable example of this uncommon trilobite from the Bromide Formation.
