Here is a rare trilobite. This is an unidentified species of Kootenia from the Pierson Cove Formation in Utah. This trilobite is complete and well articulated. It exhibits very fine detail. The genal spines are quite evident. The thoracic pleurae terminate in short spines. The pygidial spines of the trilobite are nicely displayed. The trilobite has a short occipital spine and a spine emanating from each segment on the axial lobe of the thorax that have been prepared in a free-standing manner. The trilobite has superb color and contrast. It is almost perfectly centered on a rectangular block of matrix. This is a great specimen of this spiny trilobite from the Middle Cambrian.
