This is a nice specimen of a stalk-eyed Russian trilobite. This is Asaphus (Neoasaphus) kowalewskii from the Middle Ordovician. These trilobites are among the favorites of collectors all over the world because of the long stalked eyes. The trilobite is prone and very 3-dimensional. The specimen is nicely articulated and exhibits fine detail. The caramel color of the trilobite is a wonderful contrast to the light-colored matrix. This is a very displayable specimen of this species of trilobite with extremely long eye stalks.
