This is a fabulous example of a classic Lower Cambrian trilobite. It is a beautiful Olenellus thompsoni from the DATCON site near Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This classic specimen was found in the late 1980's, and has been in our collection for years. This locality was only accessible for a few weeks when the foundation of the DATCON building was being built - only a handful of complete specimens were ever found there! This distinct trilobite is very large - a full three inches long and would be even larger of the rest of the long telson (tailspine) was fully exposed. The detailed trilobite is complete and tightly articulated. The natural color of the bug is amazing - the striking "Kinzers orange" is easily seen and quite aesthetic. The impressive trilobite displays beautifully in the center of the large slab of Kinzers shale. This is a keeper - a collectible display example of Olenellus thompsoni from a locality that produced less than 10 complete trilobites.
