This is a fabulous example of a rare Lower Cambrian trilobite. It is a beautiful Wanneria walcottana from the DATCON site near Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This classic specimen was found in the late 1980's, and has been in our collection for years. This locality was only accessible for a few weeks when the foundation of the DATCON building was being built - only a handful of complete specimens were ever found there! This distinct trilobite is a true Wanneria, which is MUCH rarer than Olenellus in the fossil record. The textbook trilobite is fully complete and very well articulated. The natural color of the bug is amazing - the striking "Kinzers orange" is easily seen and quite impressive. The detailed trilobite displays beautifully in the center of the squared block of Kinzers shale. This is a keeper - a top quality display example of Wanneria walcottana that is worthy of any museum or fossil collection.
