Here is a beautifully prepared Cordania falcata from the Haragan Formation of Oklahoma. This killer trilobite was found by Steve Hess in 1997 and prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab years ago. This striking trilobite was prepared in a "flying" pose, with the free cheeks displayed fully free of matrix. Because the free cheeks are "airborne", both the body and the free cheeks are easily seen, which is unusual. The complete trilobite is very inflated and exhibits fine detail - the large cephalon is quite evident, and the eyes are well displayed. The beautiful butterscotch-colored bug contrasts aesthetically with the lighter, cream-colored matrix. The distinct fossil is naturally showcased on a large marlstone base that also contains a cool gastropod and a detailed pelecypod! This is a very collectible and displayable specimen of Cordania falcata with both genal spines free-standing.
