This is a beautiful example of a classic US trilobite. It is a fabulous Dalmanites limulurus from the Silurian of New York. The distinct trilobite is almost perfectly prone and very nicely articulated. The distinct bug is inflated and exhibits very fine detail. The compound eyes protrude well above the sleek carapace of the trilobite. The broad genal spines and the pointed caudal spine are clearly defined. The fossil has excellent natural color and contrast and is well displayed on the large, sculpted plate of shale. This is a very impressive display specimen of this aesthetic trilobite from the Rochester Shale.
