This is a very fine specimen of Dalmanites limulurus from the Rochester Shale of New York. The trilobite is quite prone and exhibits very nice detail. The long genal spines are quite evident, and the LONG caudal spine is easily seen. The large, crescent-shaped compound eyes protrude above the sleek carapace of this very distinct trilobite. The brownish-black bug contrasts well with the large matrix plate. This is a very distinct example of Dalmanites limulurus from the Silurian of Western New York State.
