This is a colorful SPLIT PAIR Olenellus thompsoni(?) from the Lower Cambrian of the Fruitville Quarry, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This classic locality has been inaccessible to the public for the last 30 years- almost all specimens from this site were found decades ago. This striking specimen was found by Steve Hess in the early 1980's, and has been in his collection ever since. This classic fossil showcases a large, colorful trilobite. The distinct specimen is quite detailed and has part of the elusive telson (tailspine) intact, which is somewhat unusual (see close-up photo). Also unusual is the fact that this is a SPLIT PAIR FOSSIL - both the part and the counterpart are offered here together! This is a beautiful example of a split pair Olenellus trilobite from the famous Fruitville Quarry of Lancaster, PA.
