This is a large Olenellus from the Lower Cambrian of the Genosee Quarry, Donnerville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This classic locality was collected YEARS ago, and sat dormant until a few years ago, then to owner died and collecting there is now illegal - so almost all specimens from this site were found decades ago. This particular specimen was found in the early 1980's, and has been in a collection ever since. This distinct specimen is essentially complete and well displayed. The fossil showcases nice detail, with the EXTREMELY LONG telson (tailspine) fully intact, which is very unusual (see close-up photo). The entire trilobite displays beautifully on the semi-squared plate of Kinzers shale. This is a rare example of a large Olenellus trilobite with long tailspine from the classic Genosee Quarry of Lancaster County, PA.
