This is a beautiful multiple Olenellus from the Lower Cambrian of the Fruitville Quarry, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This classic locality has been inaccessible to the public for the last 30 years- almost all specimens from this site were found decades ago. This particular specimen was found by Steve Hess in the early 1980's, and has been in his collection ever since. This amazing specimen showcases MANY complete and partial trilobites - some are parts (positives) and some are counterparts (negatives). The distinct trilobites are extremely detailed and many have the elusive telsons (tailspines) intact, which is extremely unusual (see close-up photo). Also unusual is the fact that there are MANY baby (growth stage) Olenellus preserved on the plate, in different stages of growth! (hard to see in photo) Plus, there are six rare Salterella fossils preserved on the slab. And, if that's not enough, part of the counterpart is included here - it is a split pair! This is an extremely collectible multiple plate of juvenile growth stage Olenellus trilobites from the famous Fruitville Quarry of Lancaster, PA.
