This is a beautiful multiple Olenellus thompsoni(?) from the Lower Cambrian of the Fruitville Quarry, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This classic locality has been inaccessible to the public for the last 30 years- almost all specimens from this site were found decades ago. This particular specimen was found by Steve Hess in the early 1980's, and has been in his collection ever since. This amazing specimen showcases TWO beautiful, complete trilobites - the top one a part (positive) and the bottom one a counterpart (negative). Both distinct trilobites are extremely detailed and both have parts of the elusive telsons (tailspines) intact, the top trilobite having its long, COMPLETE telson preserved, which is extremely unusual (see close-up photo). Also unusual is the fact that both trilobites are fossilized laying right on top of other trilobites! And, if that's not enough, there is a complete baby (growth stage) Olenellus preserved on the plate, right between the two larger trilobites! (hard to see in photo) This is a very collectible multiple plate of complete Olenellus trilobites from the famous Fruitville Quarry of Lancaster, PA.
