This is a fabulous specimen of Coronocephalus rex from the Silurian of China. This specimen was found YEARS ago, and was recently acquired from a major trilobite collection. This type of trilobite has a small, pustulose glabella and LONG cephalic spines. The anterior border of the cephalon is quite crenulated, and the large pygidium has short, thin spines along the pygidial border. This trilobite is hardly ever found with the free cheeks present, but this specimen has both free cheeks intact! The natural, orange-brown coloration of the trilobite is quite striking. The large bug is well showcased on the squared block of rock. This is a top quality, extremely collectible example of Coronocephalus from China.
NOTE: China has now banned the export of fossils. This fossil was acquired long before the ban was put into effect.
