This is a very nice Mississippian trilobite. It is a fine Ameropiltonia lauradanae from the Choteau Formation of Missouri. As everyone knows, complete Carboniferous trilobites are quite rare. This distinct bug is well preserved and quite detailed - the pustules on the cephalon are very easily seen. The fossil is outstretched, has very good color and contrast, and is well showcased on the small marlstone block. This is a very nice, prone example of an uncommon Ameropiltonia trilobite.
