This is an excellent specimen of Drotops megalomanicus from the Devonian of Morocco. This Phacopid trilobite is not only large - it is extremely inflated and wonderfully articulated. This specimen exhibits great detail - the granulose texture of the thick shell exoskeleton is very well defined. The trilobite displays beautifully - it has been prepared free-standing, naturally perched on a small limestone base. And if you look at the back side of the bug, the hypostoma (mouthplate) is also beautifully displayed! Every trilobite collector should have a fabulous Drotops in their collection - unfortunately, there just aren't enough good ones like this to go around.
