Here is an excellent specimen of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) punctatus from the Middle Ordovician of Russia. This trilobite is extremely inflated and wonderfully articulated. It is almost perfectly prone and the thick-shelled exoskeleton is beautifully preserved. The large stalked eyes stick out far above the sleek carapace of the trilobite. The rich caramel-brown color of the bug contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. This trilobite is very symmetrical and displays well on the edge of the natural plate of limestone. This is a very "clean" example of this long-stalk eyed trilobite from Russia.
