Here is a fabulous example of Asaphiscus wheeleri from the Cambrian of Utah. This colorful trilobite is fully complete and very well articulated. Both free cheeks are present, which is quite unusual. The bug exhibits very fine detail - the eyes are easily seen, and the individual thoracic segments are clearly defined. This reddish-brown trilobite has beautiful, thick exoskeleton that contrasts strikingly with the pink and tan matrix - and, yes, the bright red shell of the trilobite is totally natural! The bug is wonderfully showcased on the natural plate of shale that also has a complete Baltagnostus eurypyx agnostid trilobite preserved on the back side! This is an extremely collectible and displayable Asaphiscus wheeleri trilobite from the famous ''Red Beds''.
