This is a very uncommon Lower Cambrian trilobite. It is a large Wanneria walcottana from the classic Kinzers Formation of York County, Pennsylvania. There have been very few Wannerias found in York County - almost all have been found in Lancaster County. This primitive trilobite is not very well preserved, with some repair and reconstruction, but the definitive outline and form of the trilobite is easily seen. The head and body have OK detail, and the pointed pleurons are quite distinct. Many Wannerias from the Kinzers are preserved elongated, looking similar to Olenellus. But this specimen is one of the rare rounder, almost-as-wide-as-it-is-tall examples. And, best of all, this is a split pair fossil - both halves are offered together. This is a large, split pair example of a rare York County Wanneria.
