This is an excellent specimen of Drotops megalomanicus from the Devonian of Morocco. This Phacopid trilobite is not only very large, it is extremely inflated. The wonderfully articulated bug is quite prone and exhibits very nice detail. The large compound eyes are very well preserved - the individual lens pattern is easily seen. The distinct, pustulose texture of the thick exoskeleton is well defined. The grey-black trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light grey matrix. The impressive bug is wonderfully showcased on the sculpted block of limestone. Every fossil collector should have a large Drotops in their collection - unfortunately, there just aren't enough good ones like this to go around.
